Anyone can visit the park today to sign a structural steel beam to be used in the Centennial Center
As stated in a news release from the City of North Liberty, the public is invited to leave a permanent mark on the under-construction Centennial Center at Centennial Park.
A structural beam will be available for the public to sign before it is installed within the event center’s steel frame. The beam will be available to sign today at Centennial Park, 1565 St. Andrews Drive, from 4-6 p.m.
Construction of the Centennial Center, an indoor event space and connected outdoor amphitheater, and plaza broke ground in July with expected completion in late summer 2025. The City has also started taking reservations for a mix of public and private events to be hosted at the park in fall 2025 through 2026.
The venue will offer a space to hold business meetings, graduation and birthday parties, networking events, family reunions, weddings, and other events, with a capacity of 300-500 people inside the event center.
Once construction is complete, an estimated $11.6 million is expected to be generated by the entertainment park each year, the release states.
The Centennial Center and amphitheater, park restrooms, an expansive plaza and necessary utilities are included in phase one of the anticipated four-phase development. Phase two, which will bring a premier splash pad, wheelchair-accessible playground units and additional restrooms to the northeast corner of the park is expected in 2026. Phases three and four will bring an open-air pavilion and honor garden to the park’s west side.
The Building North Liberty’s Next Stage capital campaign will help fund all phases with a total goal of $3.5 million. Since 2023, over $2.4 million has been raised towards that goal. In August, longtime residents and philanthropists Dave and Rita Roberts donated $100,000 to North Liberty’s Centennial Park development.
