Guns reported: Police responded to reports of a "large fight" around 8:30 p.m. at the carnival set up in the Fort Steuben Mall parking lot, Friday. Several people approached police and reported one of the individuals involved in the fight had a gun, and an employee said a group had jumped in a silver Monte Carlo. He told police he tried to take a picture of the license plate but someone had taped over the letters and numbers. Police said they maintained "a heavy presence" for some time but didn't see any fighting.
≤ Around 9:15 p.m. Friday, police were called back to the carnival because a male and female were fighting, but when they checked the area the two were nowhere to be found. Several concerned citizens told police they saw a male juvenile pull out a handgun during the altercation prior to the groups separating and scattering.
≤ Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, police logged multiple calls about another large fight at the carnival. Upon their arrival several carnival workers advised two groups went their separate ways "after an unknown female was observed brandishing a handgun in the crowd." Officers checked the area and didn't observe any disturbances taking place though they did note "several groups with known gang affiliations on opposite sides of the carnival." Police maintained a heavy presence in the area.
≤ Around 11:15 p.m. Friday, an officer patrolling the was advised of an active fight in the Shoe Department parking lot. As he made his way over to the parking lot the officer said he could see "a minimum of 20 individuals" but when he made contact all of them refused to talk and left the area.

Overdosed in church: An unresponsive female was found in the bathroom of a church downtown, Friday. Police said she was sitting in a chair and her breathing was very shallow. She had a blue glass pipe/bowl "commonly used to smoke crystal meth" in her purse, police said, adding EMS revived her with Narcan. She told police she’d snorted heroin, so they gave her a drug treatment form and confiscated the paraphernalia.
Out-of-control kid: A Dresden Avenue resident told police he had video of a juvenile "beating on his door and screaming and yelling profanities at his wife," Friday. When he pointed the youth out to police he took off running but stopped, requesting a supervisor. Police spoke with the boy and his mother and warned them if he goes near the neighbor's property again, he will be arrested for criminal trespass.
Conflicting accounts: Multiple callers reported hearing a woman in the woods in the vicinity of the 200 block of Cunningham Lane, Keagler Drive and Lovers Lane connector "screaming for help while being assaulted by a male," Sunday. One man said he saw her being forced into a white car. Police located the vehicle and had the man exit his car and said he "acknowledged that some type of incident had occurred but did not want to talk" about it. The female, interviewed separately, said she was in a car with her daughter on the connector and they started arguing and claimed she feared her daughter would assault her, so she got out of the car and screamed for help, eventually calling the man to help her. Police said she "seemed very upset but (had) no visible injuries and … was adamant (the man) did not assault her and was only there to help her."
Block boss: A Chestnut Street resident was upset because the mother of her grandchild was on her street, Friday. The younger woman told police her windshield had been broken out the night before while she was parked there, and she and the child's father came back to meet the tow truck to have it removed from the street and repaired. The male said his mother started the altercation because she doesn't want his child's mother around the property, but police noted the younger woman was sitting "nearly one house away" in her mother's car in front of a neighbor's property and the neighbor said he had no problem with either of them being on his property. His mother wanted police to make her move her car, but they pointed out she was legally parked in the street "and was technically in front of the next door neighbor's residence." They advised the younger woman not to go on or near the Chestnut Street property "for the sake of keeping the peace."
Inner peace: A man in the 800 block of Market Street who was "screaming inside (his) residence" told police he was "having some spiritual issues and was just venting," Saturday.

He told police." his father fell to the floor and would not move but he was breathing, but when they went to check on him discovered he’d gotten himself up and was downstairs taking a bath. The father told them he was injured but did not need them nor did he want an ambulance. An officer discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest and while he was confirming the information, heard the older man outside yelling at his son and another officer, then saw him "proceed to make fast steps toward (the officer) as if to intimidate or harm in," while his son struggled to keep him away. He allegedly told his son "he was going to kill him" when he gets out of jail. En route to the jail police said he began banging his head off the divider.

She told police she was told she could leave her van parked in a church lot until she could get it fixed and for the past six months it's been sitting there with flat tires and expired plates. She didn't know if the church groundskeeper had the vehicle removed, so police said she needed to find out before they entered it as stolen.
